Lebanon: An Open Country for Civil Resistance

Endorse this call for nonviolent action!
We, the people of Lebanon, call upon the local and international community to join a campaign of civil resistance to Israel’s war against our country and our people. We declare Lebanon an open country for civil resistance.
In the face of Israel’s systematic killing of our people, the indiscriminate bombing of our towns, the scorching of our villages, and the attempted destruction of our civil infrastructure, we say NO!
In the face of the forced expulsion of a quarter of our population from their homes throughout Lebanon, and the complicity of governments and international bodies, we re-affirm the acts of civil resistance that began from the first day of the Israeli assault, and we stress and add the urgent need TO ACT!
We urge you to join us in defying Israel’s aggression against our country and in defending the rights of the inhabitants throughout Lebanon, and particularly in the South, to live on their land. When the United Nations, created to preserve peace and security in the world, is paralyzed; when governments become complicit in war crimes, then people must show their strength and rise up. When justice and human rights are scorned, those who care must unite in their defense.
Building on our belief in our country, the efforts of the civil resistance, and on the arrival of the internationals coming to Lebanon for solidarity, we declare that Lebanon is an open country for civil resistance, starting from August 12.
On August 12 at 7 am, we will gather in Martyrs’ Square to form a civilian convoy to the south of Lebanon. Hundreds of Lebanese and international civilians will carry relief as an expression of solidarity for the inhabitants of the heavily destroyed south who have been bravely withstanding the assault of the Israeli military.
After August 12th, the campaign will continue with a series of civil actions for which your presence and participation is needed. Working together in solidarity we will overcome the complacency, inaction, and complicity of the international community and we will deny Israel its goal of removing Lebanese from their land and destroying the fabric of our country.

Resistencia civil en Líbano
Llamada Internacional para la acción a partir del 12 de agosto en Líbano
La resistencia civil libanesa convoca a la sociedad civil internacional para que se le una en el rechazo al control Israelí sobre sus vidas.
“Líbano: Un país abierto a la resistencia civil”
Llamada a la acción en solidaridad con Líbano.
Nosotros, libaneses, lanzamos un llamamiento a la comunidad civil internacional así como a la sociedad civil libanesa para que se sume a una campana de resistencia civil contra la guerra que Israel le ha declarado a nuestro país y a nuestra gente. Declaramos Líbano como país abierto a la resistencia civil.
Frente al asesinato sistemático que Israel le impone a nuestra gente, los bombardeos indiscriminados de nuestros pueblos y ciudades y la destrucción de nuestras infraestructuras civiles nos levantamos y decimos NO!
Frente a la expulsión forzosa de la cuarta parte de nuestra población de sus casas a lo largo de todo el país y ante la complicidad y el silencio de las organizaciones internacionales, confirmamos que las actividades de la resistencia civil que comenzaron el primer día del asalto israelí reafirmamos y reforzamos que tenemos que actuar ya!
Os pedimos que os suméis a nosotros para desafiar a la agresión israelí contra nuestro país y defendáis los derechos de los libaneses a lo largo de todo el país y especialmente en el sur, a vivir y mantenerse en sus casas y en su tierra sin que nadie pueda expulsarlos. Cuando las naciones Unidas, creadas para mantener la paz y la seguridad mundial han demostrado su parálisis, cuando los gobiernos se convierten cómplices de crímenes de guerra, la gente debe mostrar su fuerza y levantarse. Cuando la justicia y los valores humanos no valen nada, aquellos a quienes si les importa deben unirse en su defensa.
Creemos en nuestro país, creemos en los esfuerzos de la resistencia civil y realizamos esta llamada a los activistas internacionales para que viajen al Líbano en solidaridad con su pueblo.
Declaramos a Líbano un país abierto a la resistencia civil a partir del día 12 de agosto.
El 12 de agosto, a las 7 de la mañana nos reuniremos en la Plaza de los Mártires para salir en convoy hacia el sur del país. Cientos de activistas internacionales y libaneses transportaran comida y medicinas para los habitantes del sur, que pese a los fuertes bombardeos continúa resistiendo la agresión israelí.
Después del 12 de agosto, la campana continuara con una serie de acciones civiles para las cuales estamos reclamando la presencia de activistas internacionales. Si libaneses e internacionales trabajamos juntos, superaremos la inacción y la complicidad de la comunidad internacional e imposibilitaremos el objetivo que Israel trata de alcanzar: desplazar a la población del sur de hogares.

Aufruf zur aktiven Solidarität mit dem Libanon
Wir, Libanesen und Libanesinnen, richten einen Aufruf an die internationale;- sowie an die libanesische Zivilgesellschaft, sich einer Kampagne des Zivilen Widerstandes gegen den Krieg, welchen Israel unserem Land und unseren Leuten erklärt hat, anzuschließen. Angesichts des sytsematischen Mordes, den Israel unseren Leuten aufzwingt, den unterschiedslosen Bombardierungen unserer Städte und Dörfer und der Zerstörung unserer zivilen Infrastrukturen, erheben wir uns und sagen NEIN!
Angesichts der gewaltsamen Vertreibungen über das ganze Land hinweg, eines Viertels unserer Bevölkerung aus ihren Häusern und gegenüber dem Schweigen der Internationalen Organisationen, versichern wir mit Nachdruck, daß wir die Aktivitäten des Zivilen Widerstandes die am ersten Tag des Israelischen Angriffs begonnen haben, unterstützen und verstärken werden!
Wir bitten Euch, Euch uns anzuschließen, um der Israelischen Aggression gegen unser Land zu trotzen und die Rechte der LibanesInnen im gesamten Land und besonders im Süden, in ihren Häusern und auf ihrem Land zu leben und zu bleiben, ohne daß jemand sie vertreiben kann, zu verteidigen. Wenn die Vereinten Nationen, gegründet zur Aufrechterhaltung des Friedens und der Weltsicherheit, wie jetzt, ihre Gelähmtheit an den Tag legen; wenn die Regierungen zu Komplizen von Kriegsverbrechen werden, müßen die Menschen ihre Stärke zeigen und sich erheben. Wenn die Gerechtigkeit und menschlichen Werte nicht mehr greifen, müßen jene, für welche sie Wichtigkeit besitzen sich zu ihrer Verteidigung zusammenschließen.
Wir glauben an unser Land; wir glauben an die Kräfte des Zivilen Widerstandes und richten diesen Aufruf an die Internationalen AktivistInnen, damit sie in Solidarität mit seiner Bevölkerung, den Libanon reisen.
Wir erklären den Libanon ab dem 12. August 2006 als für den Zivilen Widerstand geöffnetes Land.
Am 12. August werden wir uns auf der Plaza de los Mártires versammeln, um mit einem Konvoi in den Süden des Landes zu fahren. Hunderte internationale und libanesische AktivistInnen werden Lebensmittel und Medikamente für die Bevölkerung im Süden transportieren, die trotz der heftigen Bombardierungen der Israelischen Aggression widersteht. Nach dem 12. August wird die Kampagne durch eine Reihe Ziviler Aktionen fortgesetzt werden, für die wir die Präsenz Internationaler AkltivistInnen reklamieren. Wenn libanesische und internationale Menschen zusammenarbeiten, werden wir die Tatenlosigkeit und Komplizenschaft der Internationalen Gemeinschaft überwinden und das Ziel, das Israel zu erreichen sucht: Die Bevölkerung von ihren Wohnsitzen und Lebensräumen zu vertreiben.
